about
Norway’s main supplier of cool and breezy instrumental music is back with the single “Bean”. In the summer 2019, Orions Belte released the EP Slim. Seeing as that release consisted of interpretations of other artists’ music, this is the first new music from the trio since the applauded debut album Mint from 2018.
The song was created one day while the band members were tinkering on their own with their instruments, trying to find cool sounds. All of a sudden there was a beat and in a couple of hours a new tune came into existence. Some songs are tweaked and polished for years – others are just suddenly there.
“Bean” strolls casually along, with its simple melody – a variation over a few chords. The electric guitar and the playful groove immediately sends your thoughts to distant shores; rain on the beach, gusts of wind through the streets, empty tables at an outdoor café or high tide in Bergen harbor – where the band records the coming album. It sounds drowsy, but not lazy – jolly, but also melancholy. Which in a way sums up Orions Belte pretty well.
The song title is a tribute to the late Kobe “Bean” Bryant, one of our generation’s most influential sporting heroes.
